Far away in an isolated village there was a young rich woman. The house that she had been living in was very big. Her wealth was plentiful. The young woman lived by herself. She didnt have any friend at all. Wouw, I am very rich!

The Legend of Situ Bagendit. Once upon a time in Northern Garut, there was lived a rich woman named Nyi Endit. She lived alone in a very big house. She was very greedy so people called her Bagenda Endit, the greedy wealthy woman. "I'm the richest woman in this village.

Situ Bagendit. Long time a in West Java there was a widow, her name is Nyai Bagendit. She was the richest person. in the village. She had a very big house filled with a lot of jewellery, she also had many servants. working for her. Nyai Bagendit was also known for her bad attitude. She did not like to help each. They were amazed. They knew that God punished Nyai Bagendit for behaving badly and never helped other people. Slowly, the place where Nyai Bagedit's house stood became a lake. Since then, people named the lake as Situ Bagendit It means Lake of Bagendit. 1001 Teks Story Telling.
The village was disappeared. The thing that left was a wide and deep lake. The lake was named Situ Bagendit. Situ means a wide lake. It was named Situ Bagendit, because the wide lake came from a wheel that belongs to Bagenda Endit. (taken from the legend of Situ Bagendit).
People believed that Nyi Endit transformed to a big leech on that lake. People called it Situ Bagendit. Situ means lake and Bagendit is adapted from Nyi Endit's named. And now, Situ Bagendit become one of the tourism object in Garut.
